Getting ready for winter

This time of the year our female hormones start to react to our immune system so we really need to take care of our body as a whole.

If our immune system is low our whole body starts to breakdown. We can get colds and feel very lethargic with no energy to enjoy life. There is also a high chance of getting flu or catching a cold virus.

So how do our hormones become affected?

First of all, the weather has a lot to do with aches and pains we feel in the winter, but also how we feel within ourselves, personally, if we feel depressed or sad then our hormones will be affected.

It is so important to keep busy and keep happy at this time of the year. If we have a low immune system we will also catch cold viruses and flu.

Sleep is vital for our wellbeing ladies, try to get to bed early at least 5 nights a week. A herb tea before bed is relaxing and a few drops of lavender oil on your pillowcase will relax you and help you drift off into a deep sleep.

Because it’s raining doesn’t mean it is a bad day, just think of all the things you can do inside the home or office. The cosy nights watching a good film and making a hot toddy.

A very good uplifting drink for women is hot water, a slice or two of lemon and orange, a slice of ginger and a small spoon of honey. This can be drunk at any time of the day but is especially good first thing in the morning.

Eating lots of fatty foods in the winter is not a good idea, chose hot soups with lots of fresh vegetables and pasta dishes with some spice and herbs. Grilled Salmon with some broccoli with grated melted cheese on the top. Mushrooms grilled with a lentil soup. There are many recipes for winter meals and keeping a collecting in your kitchen is ideal.

Drink lots of orange juice or eat whole oranges, you can also make teas with a slice of orange and lemon in it. Experimenting is great int he winter.

Getting Organised

This is a perfect time to get organized at home, the clocks have gone back, the nights are darker earlier, and so this is a great time to revitalize and get plenty of rest too, but first let´s get our home organized.

It is a known fact that moving furniture in different positions, throwing out old things of no use and having a general “Spring Clean” lifts our spirits and certainly gives good energy in our home space.

  • Go through your wardrobe and get rid of things you don´t need
  • Prepare a box for the charity shop
  • Pack away summer clothes
  • Organize a fold your clothes in an organized form
